The Araluen Star reports in April 1864 – License Transfers 2Araluen Star and Miners Right (1863- 1964), Saturday 30 April 1864, page 2, stating that the licence of the Kangaroo Inn, Redbank, was transferred from A. Christie, to Richard Chymouth [Chynoweth]

On 24 August 1870, the Goulburn Herald reported an inquiry was held in August 1870, before the coroner and a jury of twelve at Mr. Chynoweth’s, Maltster’s Arms,3Goulburn Herald and Chronicle (NSW : 1864-1881), Wednesday 24 August 1870, p 2. ‘… into the circumstances attending the death of a boy named William Dayball, a driver in a claim, who was killed by a horse and cart running over him.  Dr. Gentle deposed that he was called at half-past eight to see the deceased, just after he died; there was a mark on his temple and blood in his ears, and the skull was fractured. A verdict was returned of accidental death‘.

The June 1871 New South Wales Government Gazette4New South Wales Government Gazette (Sydney, NSW : 1832-1900), Friday 2 June 1871 (No.133), p 1202. listed the Insolvent Estate of Richard Chynoweth, of Major’s Creek, in the District of Braidwood, lately residing at Araluen, in the district aforesaid, then an innkeeper but now a gold miner.

The May 1883 New South Wales Government Gazette5New South Wales Government Gazette (Sydney, NSW : 1832-1900), Friday 25 May 1883 (No.222), p 2926. provided notice ‘to all creditors and others having claims against the estate of Richard Chynoweth, late of Orange, in the Colony of New South Wales, maltster, deceased, who died on or about the 20 May, 1882, and administration of whose estate was, on the 15 November, 1882, granted by the Supreme Court of New South Wales, in its Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, to Ellen Coote, of Orange, aforesaid, wife of Charles Vernon Coote, of the same place, accountant, a daughter of the said deceased.
