Peter Pickett (1855-1938)⁸ and Bridget Maloney (1863-1904)⁹ had six children following their marriage in 1887 – Bridget Melinda (1888-1954) (Mrs. E. Mathison, Araluen); Mary (1889-1949) (Mrs. Robertson, Sydney); Patrick Francis (1893-1977) (Sydney, Araluen); Michael (1894-1968) (Brisbane); Ellen (1898-1989) (Mrs. Kelly, Sydney) and Christina Maria Pickett (1903-1974) (Sydney).

Patrick’s brother Michael Joseph also enlisted for service in WWI. PICKETT Michael Joseph: Service Number – 93602: Place of Birth – Araluen NSW: Place of Enlistment – Sydney NSW: Next of Kin – (Father) PICKETT Peter. Michael enlisted 8 August 1918 and was discharged 31 December 1918, in consequence of the expiration of the period of enlistment.¹⁰

Patrick Francis Pickett married Deska Evans (1903-1943)¹¹ in 1927.

Patrick (Paddy) Francis Pickett (1893-1977)

In April 1944, the Braidwood Dispatch ¹² reported ‘Mr. P. (“Paddy”) Pickett, of Glebe, is the guest of his sister and brother in-law, Mr. and Mrs. E. Mathison. A native of the district, Mr. Pickett is a veteran of the Great War.’

An obituary was published in the Bay Post – Moruya Examiner on 16 February 1977, advising of the death of Patrick Francis Pickett on the 11 February 1977, late of Araluen and aged 84 years.¹³
