About Us

The Araluen History Group is made up of a group of individuals who have a vested interest in discovering, preserving and relaying the rich history of the valley.

Bringing the History Trail project to life is made possible with the generous support of grant funding from the Australian Government Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program, support from the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council (QPRC), and the significant research input from our volunteers and longstanding residents. A particular thanks goes to those people who generously shared their memories and experiences, providing a snapshot of what life in the valley was like during their time.

Collectively, this information has helped form a picture and timeline of significant events that has shaped the valley and its people from the 1800s to today.
